Hello again,
Taking Dales advice(until Legal Zoom gets back to me) I am providing a roa file, 8 Engine Layout for you to change, place buildings, or modify any way you choose. This layout was made on a new install of RTR 1.5 with no model additions.
Later I will start adding the zip files of models I use to complete the board my way. If you find the roa of interest and want to build a layout based on it, I would really like to see the end results.
There are 3 semafors in the controls at bottom(not visible in pictures) That allow for start up of the 3 engines in the round house that run the consists in the middle of the board. Each controlling a separate consist.
The passenger trains 3 total with one hidden at all times, and the quarry shunts run in a loop and will be running when you load the roa.
If you replace the engines(we all have our favorites) make sure you use the same engine Ids that have been assigned to the train. Board won't work right if you do not.
So here is the roa 8 Engine Layout

Neil I started playing with this layout and am having some issues. Is this a digital layout? I have to place the layout in pause mode when placing the engines and assigning ID's, 1) What engine models do you suggest using in the roundhouse? 2) I assigned Id's 1 to 3, starting with the left, Is this correct? 3) Engines 2 and 3 collide on switch S4. 4) I ran into several Issues with the S1 and S4 when engine models to move though them, S1 does not switch correctly when engine 1 passes through (I can correct this) S4 does not switch correctly when engine 3 passes through (I can correct this) 5) S4 does not switch back to original settings. Is this correct? 6) Engines 2 and 3 start automatically causing collision
7) How are the controls on the bottom should be used? Thanks Leon D

Hi Leond,
I haven't figured out how it happened, but the layout posted and the one in my game has one tiny flaw that upsets the whole layout. It is a very easy fix, just correct one single command.
In the first image you will see that I have selected the control track where the problem is
The second image shows the problem where the engine ID is set to all
The correction is simple just change all to with ID 1 on P26
Save the change and you are good to go.
Do this on the start up of the layout.
Since the 3 engines for the consists are controlled by command lines hidden in the mountain the original command was turning on the wrong command line.
Also the three line are to be run independently. You can run anyone you want, but not to at the same time. The commands would conflict each other.
As for choice of engines, just try to insure that they are about equal in length. A bit longer is okay, but not shorter. A short engine would require changes to the detach positioning.
Yes to change the passenger trains(and quarry trains) you must use pause. That loop runs consistently.
I did not incorporate a passenger stop on top of the mesa. I was thinking of changing the ice to a short commute train.
Later this week I will try to get the corrected roa posted. This is my week for doctor visits. But I am sure that you can make the right changes yourself.

I got the first train (assigned Engine ID 0f 01)to work. It start out of the left door of the train shed, runs around the track several times then return to the train shed.
I then tried the second train from the middle door. This train automatically starts. This did not give me any time to set the engine ID to 02.

I usually just move the train shed (round house) to the side and number the trains before I start one. If you look at the back of the round house, you will see 3 pole lights, one on each corner and one in the middle. I use these points as reference to place the round house back in position.
