Hello to all I have decided to stop wasting any more time and effort on trying to learn how to animate models for RTR. The amount of information available on animation is limited to a very few modellers and those who have this information are not prepared to pass this information on to others or no longer use RTR I have scoured the internet and the necessary information on animation is just not available, various website and forums that could been useful have either been removed or suspended The process of animating RTR models could have been such a boost to this forum, but it appears that nobody has the time ,the inclination or the interest to learn the animation process.
I feel the in a short period of time RTR as we know it will cease to be and those users of RTR will just move on to pastures new. It is a shame that all the time and effort that has been used to create models for RTR has been for nought. There has been some very good modellers that have made some out standing models for the RTR community, but alas they have either gone to a better place or now follow other interests I will continue to be a active member of our forum and assist any one has the time and interest to create models
Best Regards Tonto

Hello to all I have decided to stop wasting any more time and effort on trying to learn how to animate models for RTR... Having, in my time, also tried to work out how to animate models for RTR, I agree with the above ^^ that it is a Lost Cause, as there is not enough information available, nor adequate tools, to undertake this task. It's not the animations themselves that are the issue (I have created many, using Fragmotion, that work well...); it's the inability to get RTR to recognise the resulting models upon import without crashing, or display the animation if the model is imported. To say that the current stock of models is wasted, however, is mitigated a little by being able to convert many of the existing models for use in other model train systems. Not much consolation for those that have invested heavily in RTR over the years, but there is some transfer, using more modern modelling tools such as Blender or SketchUp to convert to 3D Train Studio, for example. I give thanks to those who offered help in the past, but at my advanced age I judged that I could not spare any more of my time on the Project, as success seemed impossible to achieve. Kudos for those building such impressive systems these days; no further animations, though, of steam locomotives. Treasure those that exist, as they are precious.

Tips on how to animate models and how to export those models to RTR are on the Littleville Depot server. The problem is that only old members of the RTR community who registered there when there was still an Administrator on this server who allowed interested people to register on this server can get to this server. Without an Administrator, new applicants will no longer be able to get to LVD, because no one will confirm their registration, and guests do not have access to individual threads on this server!
