Good Morning All Model Making is a intense, time consuming, and some times a difficult process , forum members can assist the model maker by following these simple guide lines 1 Please understand that models are made for ALL members and not for individuals. 2 If you wish to change a model by either repainting or making the model a engine type, and you have the ability to do so, then please feel free to change models as you see fit. 3 Model makers are not robots, they only produce models in there spare time, in some cases spare time is very limited 4 If you wish to change a model and don't know what to do Then please feel free to ask, somebody on the forum will help you, or talk you through the process 5 Don't ask the Impossible and don't impose deadlines on the model maker 6 If you are not happy with the standard or range of models, why not try to build models yourself, there are a lot of model making software programmes available on the internet some are free, 7 Don't be abrupt with model makers terms like I WANT and DO THIS should be avoided, the use of comments like Please and Thank you should be included in your comments
8 Models makers are the heart and sole of Rule the Rails game with out them RTR would just be another pc game
Note These suggestions are not aimed at any individual forum member, but they are for the guidance of all members
If you have suggestions or comments, please feel free to add them

Well said, Rae. The only points I would add to is regarding item 2. I also encourage everyone to try their hand at model making and repainting existing models is a good first step in learning how. There are two issues though; first, if you release a repainted model be sure to credit the originator of the model and identify your release as a repaint and, second, if the creator of the original model specifically requests that it not be altered in any way, please respect that.
That said, except for one of my models that I do request not be changed, I give anyone permission to do any repainting on any of my models that they want. After all, I have repainted many of your existing models so fair is fair.

Just get well as soon as possible, Rae, and if you're tired of creating models, feel free to take a break from them!

Such as my City Backgrounds and my ES44 repaints I did last month. More of my recent models are made from scratch though. Such as my high-speed trains. I do give permission for anyone to repaint any of my scratch-built models. And what was that model you requested not to be changed, Dale?

One of the shops in my Strip Mall collection, Sweet Donna's Delectable Candies. I did that one as a tribute to my late wife and prefer that if anyone wants to use it they not repaint it. There are plenty of others in the collection that can be used as is or repainted. The total collection is twenty shops with one designed as a corner shop for the left end and one as a corner for the right end. Search for "Strip Mall" on Littleville depot to see them.

I agree with Rae & Dale. I started repaint models in late 2011. I learned that it was very easy to change a texture if u used the original name. But then it propably will change all models that use the texture. So I nearly always change the names & validate. Often I repaint because I make copies of models I like & use a lot. Just for variation, or I make them "swedish", change names, advertising logos. I've been working as a painter for 15 years, often painted railway bridges, goods buildings, stationroofs of galvanized zink plates.
If the author don't write anything about repainting, it's free to copy, repaint. Many models I just make repaintable, keep the original paint & then change colour in the program. It's a honor for me to name the author when I release a repainted model./ -Boots127

I was thinking of doing the NS 8098 Conrail Heritage Unit. And some other NS heritage units.
