More Information On The Decompilation
Hello there friends. As me and Ched stated a while back, we were doing a decompilation. In fact we are still doing a decompilation in the games code. I thought it would be a good idea to share some more information on how this is going to work and operate. This is not going to be cancelled, I would like to finish this. Keep in mind that we will have to hide the Source Code from the developers of the game... Or just blatantly publish it on GitHub (https://github.com), they might not mind? I mean the developers of the Super Mario 64 decompilation did post it on GitHub, and that game is by NINTENDO and they're VERY PICKEY on copyright laws and stuff.
I think I should start with how I would obtain said code. First I could try fumbling around the game's more valuable files such as .dlls or the .exe itself. Code can be obtained from these and has been used before to do things like this (decompilations and or modifications) I think I'll start there and work my way upwards...? Cheddar told me that somebody else who attempted this found that there was a form of encryption with a key and he/she/they didn't know how to decrypt it. I do have quite a lot of experience with decryption... Not a ton, but a decent bit. I could then trick the game into either using a different encryption key or use a decrypting algorithm to decode the game myself manually... Which may be really painful. The game is likely coded in raw assembly and if you know about computers you'd know how annoying it is to interpret and to manually code, but that hopefully won't be much of an issue. (After all, saves on frames.)
The development of this decompilation will be a journey to say the least, and you can always hit me up on the following social medias if you would like to speak to me a bit more directly. I'll be trying my hardest in the meantime to get this working and KEEP IN MIND THIS WILL TAKE TIME. I have a social life and friends and I may love to code and mod games but I like to have a balance with that too. Have a great day!
