And so to carry on with the next stage
The XLI File
is a file which coordinates the textures and the xfile.
This file provides several important snippets of information if you look at the example below I will explain what each line represents
2616860
24
ENGINE_TYPE 1203 mozd02.x 0.0065 Engine02
NOREF
-
12
0
2682207
The first line of the xli file is the xli number, (each xli file has a different number)
The second line is the number of models in this xli file (if you add a model to a xli file you must increase this number by the number of models you are adding, if you added one model to this xli file you would change this number to 25.
The third line of the xli file contains several pieces of information: ENGINE_TYPE this is the type of model (this part of the line must always be in uppercase and must have a underscore line between the words ENGINE and TYPE, The
next part of the line 1203 is the model number, each model must have a different model number,
the next part mozd02.x is the name of the x file, this must be exactly the same as the name of the x file.
the next part of the line 0.0065 is the size or scale of the model (this can be changed to adjust the size of the model in the game)
and the last part of the line is name of the model
line 4 NOREF this stands for no reference (This entry must also be in uppercase.
line 5 not applicable
line 6 12 this is the speed of a locomotive
line 7 0 this line need not be changed.
line 8 2682207 this is the checksum number this number is generated by the x file validator
I will cover the x file validator in another post
