I try to make a layout, the take a screen shot,
This normally saves the image as a bmp file.
Then I convert this screen shot using Paint.net to convert the image to a jpeg file.
I am running to some issues.
Some pictures do not show up as BMP files. They show up as Paint.net Images. Paint.net does not like these images.
I usually use Paint.net to convert the bmp file to a jpeg file, which with several renaming issues, allows the image to be shown in layout viewer
What is the issue? can anything be done to resolve these issues.
every thing seemed to work until I placed the NJTransit or the Penncental models from Orlando on the a track.
Can anyone provide help or an explanation of what may be happening.
Thanks

When you take the screenshot is the file's extension .bmp? If not then what extension does it have and what happens if you change the extension to .bmp? Will paint.net open them then?

The image appears to be a Pant.net image.
What program other than Paint.net should I be using?

Leon, how do you know it seems to be a paint.net image? Does it have an extension on the file name like .pdn or .paint? If you can't see the extension, move the file to a folder and, from the View menu ribbon, set it to show File Name Extensions. Once you can see the extension, do as I previously suggested. Or you can upload the file somewhere and post the link to it. If I can get it, I might be able to see what's happening.

RTR when taking a screenshot indicates the image is saved as a bmp file, However when looking in the screenshots folder the file type Shows "Paint.net Image"

Yeah, that's what Windows thinks it is but apparently paint.net doesn't agree. Without seeing the file itself, there's nothing more I can tell you.

I created the layout on a windows 10 computer with the latest updates
Next I copied the RTR with the layout to a flash drive.
Then I copies the rtr directory to a windows 7 computer.
I started rtr from the flash drive and loaded the layout and took a screenshot, the image was saved as a bmp file.
I then started Paint.net and the screenshot correctly.
Next I copies the screenshot (a BMP file) to the flash drive
I then copied the bmp file from the flash drive to my windows 10 computer, The image loaded into paint.net without any issues.
How do I copy the "paint.net Image" to this post?

I use ReLive for videos, & screenshots. Paint Shop Pro 7 for image editing.
